PROJECT BRIEF
Year: Autumn 2023
Class: Design Media 3
Independent Project
Techniques: Adobe Premiere Pro
In this eight-week interview project, we were told to create a video about maker, learning, and third spaces that reflects our Hughes Hall redesign project. The goal is to learn from students and experts to shape our interior design plans. The project focuses on improving our interviewing and storytelling skills, blending user research with studio projects to tell a short story about what experts and students imagine for these spaces. The video aims to make these ideas come alive visually, helping us better understand user needs and expert insights for our design decisions.
FINAL DOCUMENTATION
Shot Logs and Audio Logs:
Create a shot and audio log to inventory your footage and audio recordings from the shoot. Write a short description of what topics are in the footage with your own wording, in a way that makes sense to you.

Edit Decision List:
Next make an EDL of your interview footage, which lists shot order, filename, in-point, outpoint, shot type and brief description, length and transition, by placing this information in the order that you plan to use them in the edit you will make.

Script and Read-Through:
Write, refine and record a 3-5 minute script (~450-700 words) that tells the story of your building design for Hughes Hall. This script will become the foundation for your visuals, which you will construct as a time-based movie in Premiere.
Interview Rough Cut with Sound:
The rough cut is the first stage in which the story begins to emerge from all of the interview footage and your EDL, towards resembling a cohesive story.
Refined Cut #2:
Present a full-length version of your edited project, incorporating all intended interview head-shots, sound, and footage in the planned sequence. Ensure the inclusion of edited b-roll footage, defined transitions, balanced sound with fade in/out, and edited titles/graphics/credits, along with color correction.
