PROJECT BRIEF
Year: Autumn 2024
Class: Design Research III and Advanced Interior Design I
Independent Project
Techniques: Autodesk Revit & Enscape
In this semester-long project, we were tasked with designing a capstone project that responds to the unique needs of the Franklinton, OH community through a comprehensive four-phase process. Beginning with the Discovery phase, we conducted site and building analyses, created a community asset map, and explored the challenges and opportunities of the area to inform our program direction. In the Define + Ideate phase, we analyzed case studies and precedents, developed a program and occupancy load, and conducted a feasibility study to establish a solid foundation for our design. The Design phase allowed us to explore concepts through sketches, user journey maps, and schematic plans, iterating our ideas to ensure adaptability and impact. Finally, in the Development phase, we refined floor plans, interior elevations, building sections, material selections, and lighting designs to create a cohesive and detailed proposal. This project represents the culmination of research, creativity, and design, aiming to foster growth, empowerment, and connection within the Franklinton community.
