PROJECT BRIEF
Year: Spring 2025
Collaboration: Color Marketing Group x OSU
Independent Color Forecast Submission
Techniques: Trend Forecasting
Selected as 1of 6 fourth-year design students to represent Ohio State in collaboration with Color Marketing Group (CMG), an international association known for shaping global color direction across industries. This interdisciplinary project brought together students from Interior Design, Industrial Design, and Visual Communication Design to explore how color influences consumer behavior and emerging design trends.
The process began with CMG 101 training sessions, introducing the core principles of color forecasting. Guided by Associate Professor Rebekah Matheny and CMG expert Renee Hytry Derrington, I completed an individual ChromaZone® forecast worksheet, identifying key macro trends that informed the development of my color story and color palette.
In late April, I presented my forecast to the team and industry professionals, including Design Chair Fabienne Munch, during the in-person ChromaZone® workshop. After sharing our individual forecasts, our team engaged in a collaborative discussion to identify shared themes and align key insights. This process led to the creation of the official OSU Composite Color Forecast for 2027+, reflecting CMG’s approach of using shared ideas and perspectives to guide color trends.
